1.6 Frequently Asked Questions
1.6.1 Does the toolchain support UAV remote sensing technologies such as fine-grained information detection, swarm flight, rapid panoramic modeling, 3D reconstruction, rapid disaster assessment, and pre/post-disaster comparison scanning for complex environments?
Answer:
These types of resources are not currently available in the RflySim Toolchain. Plans for such features will be announced in the future — please stay tuned for toolchain updates.
1.6.2 What is the system architecture of the RflySim Toolchain? What data communication protocols are used, and how are the server and client connected?
Answer:
The toolchain simulation uses both UDP and MAVLink protocols. For details, see the diagram below:

1.6.3 Are RflySim and AirSim doing the same thing? What is the difference?
Answer:
By integrating with the autopilot, the RflySim Toolchain's capabilities cover and extend beyond what AirSim and Gazebo offer, including lower-level functionality. See the comparison diagram below:

1.6.4 After installing the RflySim Toolchain, QGC crashes when running the SITLRun.bat script. How can this be resolved?
Problem Description:

Answer:
Any antivirus software installed on the computer (such as 360 Security) needs to be uninstalled. After uninstalling, the QGC crash issue will be resolved.
1.6.5 Why does the downloaded OneScript file open in Notepad instead of MATLAB, and why is the OneScript file not found in MATLAB?
Problem Description:

Answer:
You need to navigate into the folder first. The RflySim Toolchain scripts cannot be opened directly by double-clicking. In the file selection dialog, change the filter to "All Files", as shown below:

1.6.6 An error keeps occurring during installation. The antivirus software has been closed and the computer restarted, but the issue persists. How can this be resolved?
Problem Description:

Answer:
Open a CMD window on your computer and run:
wsl --unregister Ubuntu-18.04
wsl --unregister RflySim-20.04
This will unregister the Ubuntu subsystem. After that, reinstall.
1.6.7 Does the RflySim Toolchain only support Windows?
Answer:
After installation, the RflySim Toolchain automatically creates a WinWSL subsystem running Ubuntu 20.04. The supplementary materials also include Ubuntu virtual machine installation tutorials. A native Linux version of the RflySim Toolchain is currently under development — stay tuned!
1.6.8 Can the RflySim Toolchain be used in real-world environments?
Answer:
Yes. Thanks to the toolchain's design, users can quickly transition from simulation to real flight. Additionally, the highly realistic simulation capabilities can be leveraged for simulation-based teaching, digital twin applications, and more.
1.6.9 Does the RflySim Toolchain provide community support and user communication channels?
Answer:
This is planned for the future — stay tuned!
